Why add all your Social Media links to your email-signature?

How many emails do you send each day? Why not use that as an opportunity to increase your Social Media linking! Do all your contacts know your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Lindkedin links? For sure not! An easy way to get linked is to add a personalized Email-Signature to your emails.

How to add the Social Media links to your email-signature?

Most email-programs have a possibility to create your own email-signature. Often thou it’s not so easy to add many small Social Media icons on your signature. Some email-programs do not have so fancy html-code (editing code) possibilities. What to do then?

WiseStamp – what is that?

WiseStamp is a browser add-on. You can create several email-signatures with it with your different Social Media icons and links. It is currently available for Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. It is free and you can download it to your computer from this link: http://www.wisestamp.com/

How to use WiseStamp?Create your own WiseStamp signature

Download the WiseStamp Plugin to your computer (using Firefox browser recommended). Find the small WiseStamp sign from your browser (in Firefox in the right-bottom-corner). Click the WiseStamp icon to open the plugin. Create your own business and personal Signatures first by adding a table with two columns (one for the logo and one for the details).

After you have added the Logo and the basic details to your signature it is time to fill in the Social Media details. Start with Social Icons, choose the Social Media one by one (Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Blogger, Linkedin etc.) and fill in the Link to your Social Media page on each of the Social Media services that you use. Delete all the extra Social Media options from the list.

How to make your Social Media Email-signature

Next step is to add suitable Email Apps. They are RSS feeds from your Social Media sites. For example you can add RSS feed from your latest Blog post to your Signature. This is done by Clicking RSS sign under the Email Apps, then click ADD button and add the RSS feed (blog post feed) to you the link field. Change the RSS Title to something suitable like “Read my latest blog post:”.

From IM Icons you can add your Skype name, Messenger name to your Email Signature. From Design Tab you can add borders and a light Gray box to your Signature. When you are done with your Signature remember to click Apply button and Preview to see how the signature looks like. If you are happy with the design then Click OK.

The last but not the least thing is to go to the Settings. This you do by opening the WiseStamp again from the icon, then choose Settings. Go and un-click the “Keep the WiseStamp credit in the Signature” box. Remember to promote WiseStamp by small donation or by Sharing their link in Facebook. Last click OK!

How do I add the Signature to my emails?

Open a new email message, click your right-mouse-button once and choose “Insert signature” and choose the correct signature by clicking it once. Signature should appear to your email. It is good to do this first before actually writing the email, so that you do not mess the text in your email.

Our latest blog post: Miten voin helposti seurata asioita Internetissä?

Our new Blog will bring out details of how you can make your webpages more Search Engine Friendly (SEF). We will give also hints about Free Open Source programs and different Free Internet Services. Close to our heart is expecially  Joomla Content Management System and it’s Extentions and also Linux Operating System and Linux Servers.

For Serach Engine Friendly affect many different things. You have maybe heard of Metawords,  Google AdSence campaigns, Facebook-advertisement, Twitter and many other Sosial Media services. Where to start and to what concentrate? That is a Million Dollar Question! What is good for one is not neccessary good for the other. Each situations have to be considered separately, but what is normally the start is functional webpages.

Why would you need your own webpages? You have maybe heard the saying  “If you are not in the Internet you do not exist!” The majority of people search information of companies and services and even of other people from the Internet. Most of them use Google Search Engine funtion.  That is why we have a new word “to google” in otherwords serach information through Google.  Even retired older people learn how to use the Internet. There are even classes to teach them – on a slower pace – how to use the net.

Lesson Nr. 1 for Search Engine Friendly Site is that you need to have your own webpages and they need to be such that you can add META words and META Description to the site. Meta description should be maximum 160 marks long. It should tell briefly what your pages are all about.  Google will show those Meta description in their search results below your webpage address.

Metawords i.e. search-word are words that pages are searched from Google. Words should be in line with the texts on your webpages. Same words should be found from the Headings and texts in general. Why?  Google will read the metawords and then compare them to the texts on your site and headings. If the same words are found in the texts Google will give higher points to your site. If metawords do not correspond to the texts and headings of your site Google might start to poikot your site in their search results. So make sure you have the important Metawords both in your site texts and headings and the Metawords definitions.

I want to get a fancy Flash webpages! Why not? Flash is fancy and a nice addition to the site, but it is not recommendable to use Flash as the only means of doing your webpages. Why? Flash code is like Hebrew to the Search Engines. Yes, sure Google can read the texts in between all that Flash code. But Flash sites are never in the top place in the search engine results. Google cannot make links between different parts of a Flash site to another page on the flash site. So all links lead to the front page and frontpage only. If you want to have Flash-type featured to your site it is better to add such features as a part of a clearer Content Management Site as Joomla.

What is a Content Management Site? Content Management site is a site that is done by using a Content Management Program. Using such does not require that you know html-code. What, do you mean webpages can be done without knowing any html-code? Yes I do! That is exactly what I mean! If you are offered webpages that must be coded from the start to the finish it is time to whistle the game over.   Time for such old fashioned sites is over! Today the site should be done with a system that makes editing the site easy. If your site requires that you learn html-code the the time for your site is definitely over.  You must be able to edit your site without that you need to ask help from an IT professional. That is how websites should be today, if your webpage is not yet like that it is time to change your partner. You will save time and money on a long run when you can make small changes to your site yourself.

There are many Content Management Systems but we will be concentrating to Joomla Content Management System. Why Joomla? Joomla has a community of over 200000 users. Joomla Community tests and takes part actively to the development of Joomla. What commercial program can brag with a community of over  200000 testers? This Joomla community is a strenght that others do not have. Over 5000 Joomla Extentions already tell us how versatile program Joomla is.

Joomla has many Search Engine Friendly features. Each page can have Metawords and Meta description (Article/Article Manager). This way Google can direct visitors directly to other pages also than only the Frontpage. You can add Share in Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media extensions. World is open or should we say “Internet is open”. More about the topic in the next blog!
